NAINITAL – HARIDWAR – MUSSORIE TRIP

The annual Agnel National trip was to Nainital – Haridwar and Mussoorie this year. Students of standard VIII & IX embarked on an 8-day trip during the Diwali break to soak in the spiritual essence of Haridwar and to embrace the natural beauty of Nainital and Mussoorie.

143 students accompanied by Rev Fr. Almeida and 12 staff members departed on 4th November to Delhi by Rajdhani Express. From Delhi the group travelled by AC buses to Nainital with a pitstop at the famous Kesari Dhaba at Rudrapur.

At Nainital the group enjoyed boating at Naini Lake which is nestled in the Kumaon hills followed by a visit to the renowned Naina devi temple, a shrine dedicated to the local Goddess. Later in the day the group explored the famous Tibetan market, Mall road for shopping and savouring momos, noodles and local sweets.

Next day the group moved to the sacred city of Haridwar. After lunch and siesta, it was time to witness the captivating Ganga Aarti at the iconic Har ki Pauri ghat. A sea of humanity was there to witness the Aarti and the atmosphere was charged with positive vibrations and spiritual essence.

The following day was filled with adventure, as early in the morning the group embarked on an exciting safari to the Rajaji National Park nestled in the foothills of Himalayas to witness the diverse wildlife, lush forest landscapes and the mighty Ganga flowing - all this coupled with some off roading experiences.

After safari the group left for Surkhanda devi temple which is at a height of 9040 feet. To visit the shrine there is a steep climb of almost 150 yards and then a ropeway which is 500m long. At the summit one can see captivating breathtaking views of the snowcapped peaks of Himalayas. Later in the evening, time was well spent at the Mall road, Mussoorie for acquiring some more mementos and souvenirs while enjoying some street food.

9th November was the day of departure, enroute to Delhi with the best pit stop at the famed Moolchand Parathewale  for a sumptuous feast of North Indian delicacies. A trip to remember and cherish for lifetime.
